This is Roan Revenge, a Standardbred stallion a friend of mine owns. He is a true roan, but looks more bay in winter. In summer, he looks almost pink from the roan.
This guy is 25 yrs old and the last living son of Roanie Boy (his sire). You would never know it at times the way he rears and bucks around the field. He is one of the most gentle stallions I've been around. When I was taking photos of him, I was in the small field with him while he reared, bucked, rolled on the ground etc, and all the while, he made sure to act up for the camera, but NOT do anything to harm me or get too close where I could be hurt. He has such a great temperament and absolutely LOVES treats.
I used the original photograph to create this digital painting of this gorgeous Standardbred Stallion. I hope you enjoy the final result of many hours of hard work.
